Our Playground.
Our Responsibility.
Our Responsibility.
We’re committed to using business as a force for good – inspiring and living active lifestyles that matter. The world is our home and playground. We have a duty of care to protect it. That’s why we have created actionable commitments guided by targets supported by our parent company, The Leisure Collective. Check out some of our highlights below, or read more in our responsibility report.
“Our goal has been do what we can, where we can, as quickly as we can.” - Beau Campi, Brand & Product Director - CREATURES OF LEISURE.
100% of our products will be made either entirely or partly from recycled or biodegradable materials by 2030. We’ll only use non-recyclable materials when it critically impacts the quality and durability of our product, and there are no feasible alternatives.
All of our primary packaging will be 100% non-biodegradable-plastic free by 2026. Where we use cardboard/paper, this will be 100% recyclable and FSC certified for 100% recycled content. By 2030, we also aim to have non-biodegradable plastic eliminated from all of our secondary packaging as well.
100% of our team will dedicate a minimum of 1 work days of volunteer time per year to have a positive community impact. We will also ensure good – not just fair – conditions for workers in our supply chain.
Products that are used and loved for a long time means less virgin materials are used long-term, resulting in reduced environmental impact. Anything we make should be high-quality and serve an ongoing function in active lifestyles. Choosing sustainable, non-toxic materials is a must, as long as it doesn’t hinder this first objective.
Wasteful packaging can do just as much, if not more, damage to the world than the products they protect. All of our packaging should therefore be designed with sustainable disposal at its absolute core.
Our love for the coastal and ocean lifestyle has brought us together and influences all that we do. We encourage that healthy balance while feeding our passion and inspiration. We are a lean team that don’t shy away from hard work to make a difference. It’s the 1%’s that all add up.
We proudly collaborate with the non-profit organization ‘Waves For Water’. In our ongoing commitment to improving access to clean drinking water for underserved communities, we introduced the CREATURES/W4W wax comb. A percentage of the proceeds from these sales has supported the construction of a toilet and shower facility in a remote village on Lombok, Indonesia. We look forward to further advancing our shared goals in the future. Learn more here.
The Disabled Surfers Association of Australia puts smiles on dials one wave at a time. They help people get in the water, who otherwise can’t surf safely by themselves. CREATURES proudly volunteers our time to help them on the beach, whenever they have events in our area.
Tangaroa Blue works to prevent and remove marine debris. The CREATURES team passionately supports their beach clean ups in our home of Yallingup, helping to keep our coast pristine for future generations.
This world-first surf traction radically reduces manufacturing waste while also improving performance. Using moulded technology, we were able to take a 67% wastage of materials to just 5% for this tail pad. EcoPure® EVA means the traction itself - and any material waste - is also certified biodegradable at its end of life. A massive leap forward for CREATURES and the surf industry as a whole. We now plan to use this technology for every piece of surf traction in our range by 2028. Learn more here.
In 2020 all of our packaging contained plastic. All of it. Now we’ve eliminated 97% of plastic from our primary packaging. An effort we’re continuing to improve in the future.
As part of the Australian Packaging Covenant Organisation, CREATURES OF LEISURE has a clear roadmap to improve the sustainability of our packaging. In 2023, we achieved APCO’s highest certification ‘beyond best practice’.
